— The hotel
Solezia appartement, piscine et vue mer, by Welcome to Cannes
Honestly, when I first pulled up to 45 Boulevard Leader, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s sort of tucked away from the main Croisette action, which actually turned out to be perfect. The Solezia appartement sits in this quieter stretch where you can still hear the Mediterranean lapping against the rocks below, but you’re not dealing with the constant parade of supercars and street performers that make the famous waterfront feel like a circus sometimes.
What really got me was stepping onto that terrace for the first time. You know how most “sea view” places show you a sliver of blue between buildings? Not here. The view stretches across the Baie de Cannes toward the Îles de Lérins, and honestly, I spent way too much time just watching the ferries chug back and forth to Sainte-Marguerite. The pool – which isn’t huge but perfectly adequate for cooling off after a day exploring – sits right there with the same panoramic backdrop. I found myself swimming laps at sunset more nights than I care to admit, watching the light bounce off the water while the bells from Notre-Dame d’Espérance chimed in the distance.
The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile hotel-clean, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has decent knives and real olive oil (not those tiny packets), which matters when you’ve hauled fresh tomatoes and burrata back from Marché Forville. Speaking of which – the walk to the old market takes maybe fifteen minutes through some lovely residential streets where you’ll pass locals walking their dogs and chatting over garden gates. It’s that authentic Cannes neighborhood vibe that tourists rarely see. Parking can be a bit tricky during the busy summer months – there’s street parking but you might find yourself circling the block a few times when the film festival crowd descends. The Welcome to Cannes team was pretty helpful about suggesting alternative spots though, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward without the usual hotel desk drama. I mean, with a 9.2 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after spending a week there I totally get why people keep coming back to this particular slice of the Côte d’Azur.
