Maison Julia- Triplex avec rooftop terrasse vue sur mer et cathédrale, 10 mins à pieds du palais et plages
Honestly, when I first walked up Rue Haute to find Maison Julia, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow street tucked behind Cannes’ main drag. But then you step inside this triplex and – wow. The space just keeps going up, floor after floor, until you hit that rooftop terrace and suddenly you’re looking out over the Mediterranean on one side and the cathedral’s bell tower on the other. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of old Cannes here, where the locals actually live and work, not just the tourist bubble down by the Croisette.
What really got me was how the place feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental. The kitchen on the second floor has everything you need if you want to cook – and honestly, you should, because the morning market on Rue Meynadier is just around the corner and the produce is incredible. The bedrooms are spread across the floors, so if you’re traveling with friends or family, everyone gets their own space without feeling cramped. But let’s be real, you’ll spend most of your time on that rooftop. I’d grab coffee up there every morning, watching the fishing boats head out while the cathedral bells chimed seven AM. Evenings are even better – the sunset hits the water just right, and you can hear the buzz from the restaurants below without being right in the thick of it.
The ten-minute walk to the Palais des Festivals is no joke – it’s actually closer to eight if you take the shortcut down Rue d’Antibes. And getting to the beaches? Well, Plage du Midi is the closest, maybe twelve minutes if you’re not rushing. The location is sort of perfect because you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough up the hill that you escape the crowds when you want to. Parking can be tricky on Rue Haute itself, but there’s a public lot about three blocks away that won’t break the bank. One thing to know – the bells from the cathedral are charming during the day, less so if you’re a super light sleeper. But honestly, after a day of walking around Cannes and maybe a glass of wine with dinner, I slept just fine. This place gets booked solid during the Film Festival, obviously, but if you can snag it any other time of year, you’re getting that perfect Cannes experience without paying Croisette prices.
