Modern 2-Br Apartment in the Heart of Cannes
Honestly, when I first walked up to 5 rue Chabaud, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s one of those narrow streets in the heart of Cannes that tourists usually rush past on their way to the Croisette. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this two-bedroom apartment work so well. You’re literally in the thick of everything, but tucked away from the main tourist chaos.
The apartment itself is what I’d call refreshingly honest – it’s modern without trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect. The kitchen actually has proper counter space (thank god), and the living area opens up nicely, which is saying something for a place in this part of town where every square meter costs a fortune. I mean, you can hear the market vendors setting up early in the morning if you’re a light sleeper, but that’s part of the charm, right? You’re getting the real Cannes experience, not some sanitized hotel bubble. The bedrooms are solid – nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable and there’s decent storage space. What really sold me was the location though. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll hit either the old port (where locals actually eat, not just the tourist traps), the Palais des Festivals, or those winding streets up toward Le Suquet where you can escape the crowds. The beach is close enough that you can pop back for a shower between morning and afternoon beach sessions, which honestly makes such a difference during festival season when everything’s packed.
The building itself has that slightly worn French apartment feel – you know, the kind where the hallway lighting is on a timer and you might have to jiggle the key a bit, but it’s charming rather than annoying. Parking is going to be your biggest headache (it’s Cannes, what do you expect?), but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that’s not too brutal price-wise. The 7.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises. I’ve stayed in fancier places on the Croisette that felt sterile and overpriced, and I’ve stayed in cheaper spots that were either too far out or just depressing. This hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Cannes rather than just visiting it. Plus, the little café downstairs makes proper coffee, which matters more than you’d think when you’re stumbling around at 8 AM looking for caffeine.
Cannes hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Le Suquet district to elegant palace hotels and modern luxury accommodations along La Croisette Boulevard.
