— The hotel
Résidences Cresci
You know what caught me off guard about Résidences Cresci? I’d walked past this place on Quai Saint-Pierre probably a dozen times before actually staying there, and honestly, I never realized how perfectly positioned it is. I mean, you’re literally steps from the old port – like, you can smell the sea salt and hear the rigging clanking on the boats when you open your windows in the morning. But here’s the thing that really sold me: it’s just far enough from the Croisette madness that you can actually sleep at night.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very Cannes without being flashy about it. I stayed in one of their residences (they’re more like proper apartments than hotel rooms), and the kitchen actually worked – not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken burner and no decent knives. The staff seem to genuinely know the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I mentioned wanting to avoid the tourist traps for dinner, the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a generic list – she told me about this little bistro on Rue Saint-Antoine where the locals go, about a three-minute walk inland.
What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole short-term rental thing without making it feel impersonal. Check-in was smooth (they actually answered their phone when I called about arriving early), and they stock the basics so you’re not immediately hunting for a grocery store. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you factor in location – I could walk to Marché Forville for morning coffee and croissants, then be on the beach in under ten minutes if I felt like dealing with the crowds. Parking’s always a nightmare in this part of Cannes, but they sorted that out too. During festival season this place probably books up months ahead, but in shoulder season it’s actually a steal for what you get. It’s one of those spots where you feel like you’re living in Cannes rather than just visiting – which, honestly, is exactly what you want when you’re staying more than a couple nights.
