Hotel Description

So I’ve stayed at Studio Fenelon a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. The location is what first caught my attention – you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Palais des Festivals, but tucked away on this quiet residential street that most tourists never discover. I mean, rue Fenelon isn’t exactly on the main drag, which is actually perfect because you avoid all that Boulevard de la Croisette chaos while still being close enough to everything that matters.

The studio itself has this lovely little terrace that faces west, so you get these amazing golden hour moments in the evening. I remember sitting out there with a bottle of rosé from the Monoprix down the street, watching the light bounce off the buildings – it’s honestly better than some of the overpriced hotel terraces closer to the waterfront. And can we talk about the parking situation? Because if you’ve ever tried to find a spot in Cannes during festival season (or really any summer weekend), you know it’s basically a nightmare. Having your own dedicated parking space is like striking gold. The first time I pulled up and saw that little sign with the studio’s name on it, I actually did a little happy dance.

What really sets this place apart though is how it feels like a proper home base rather than just another hotel room. The kitchenette is actually functional – I’ve made everything from morning coffee to full dinners in there, and the local markets on rue Meynadier are just a quick stroll away. The bed is comfortable (not one of those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you wondering if you slept on the floor), and the bathroom has decent water pressure, which… well, you know how hit-or-miss that can be in older French buildings. The whole place has been updated without losing that Mediterranean charm – clean lines, good lighting, but still feels warm and lived-in.

I’ll be honest, it’s not the fanciest place you’ll find in Cannes, but that’s sort of the point. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services you’ll never use. Instead, you get a really solid, well-thought-out space in a spot that locals actually live in. My neighbor during my last stay was this elderly French woman who grew tomatoes on her balcony and always said bonjour when she saw me coming back from the beach. That’s the kind of authentic Cannes experience you miss when you’re staying in those big chain hotels near the port. Plus, the morning walk to get your pain au chocolat takes you through some genuinely charming residential streets where you’ll see how the city actually functions beyond all the glamour and film festival madness.
