Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “WELCOME” with that whole subtitle about being near the Palais des Festivals, I thought it might be one of those places that’s all hype. But walking up to 2 Rue Lycklama, you actually get this sense that someone put real thought into this place. The building itself has that classic Cannes charm without being too precious about it, and the Prado-République neighborhood? It’s got this lived-in feel that’s way more authentic than the glitzy Croisette area.

The two-bedroom setup is honestly perfect if you’re doing Cannes with friends or family – I mean, you get proper space to spread out, which is rare in this city where most places squeeze you into shoebox rooms. What really got me was how they’ve managed to capture that Mediterranean light throughout the apartment. You know what I’m talking about if you’ve been to the Côte d’Azur – that particular golden quality that makes everything look like a film set. The furnishings strike this nice balance between modern comfort and not trying too hard to be trendy. And yes, you really can walk to the Palais des Festivals in about five minutes, but more importantly, you’re positioned perfectly to duck into the old town when the festival crowds get overwhelming.

The 9.5 rating actually makes sense once you stay here – it’s those little details that add up. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), the wifi doesn’t drop out every ten minutes like some places in old Cannes buildings, and the neighborhood has this great mix of locals and visitors without feeling touristy. You’ve got real bakeries and cafés within a block or two, and honestly, being slightly off the main drag means you can actually sleep at night. I stayed during the film festival once and could barely hear the chaos, which is saying something. The only thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit of a hunt – but that’s Cannes for you, not the apartment’s fault. If you’re planning to explore the coast, the train station is close enough that you don’t need a car anyway. This place just feels like someone’s actual home that they’re sharing with you, not a sterile vacation rental, and in a city where authenticity can be hard to find, that’s worth quite a bit.
