— The hotel
C009-Duplex avec vue sur mer et piscine
Honestly, when I first pulled up to this duplex on Avenue Francis Tonner, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name “C009-Duplex avec vue sur mer et piscine” sounds pretty clinical, right? But you know what, sometimes the most understated places surprise you the most. This isn’t your typical Cannes hotel experience, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Cannes at all. You’re tucked away from the madness of La Croisette (thank god, because that gets overwhelming fast), but you can still walk to the beach in about ten minutes if you don’t mind a little stroll. What really got me was stepping into this duplex and realizing you’ve got actual space to breathe – I’m talking real rooms, not those cramped hotel boxes where you’re tripping over your suitcase. The sea view from upstairs is legit too, not one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations. You can actually see the Mediterranean stretching out, and on clear mornings – well, it’s the kind of view that makes you want to have your coffee outside even when you’re usually rushing around.
The pool area is where this place really shines, honestly. It’s shared, but never felt crowded when I was there (granted, this was late September, so maybe it’s different in peak summer). There’s something about having a proper pool when you’re staying somewhere that just changes the whole vibe – you’re not tied to beach schedules or fighting for lounge chairs with tourists. The duplex setup means you’ve got privacy too, which is rare in Cannes unless you’re dropping serious cash. I mean, the 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not dripping with luxury, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully maintained. The kitchen upstairs actually has decent equipment if you want to grab groceries from the Monoprix down the street (parking can be a bit tricky around there, just so you know).
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to walk into town for dinner – and you should definitely hit up some of the spots along Rue Meynadier for proper local food – but far enough that you’re not dealing with party noise or traffic all night. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you factor in that sweet spot of location, space, and value. It’s not trying to be the Carlton or the Martinez, and that’s exactly why it works.
