Cannes Old Port, SEAFRONT & Sea view
You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you step out the front door, you’re literally looking at the old port of Cannes – not some distant glimpse through palm trees, but the actual working marina with all those gorgeous yachts bobbing around. I mean, the address says Quai Saint-Pierre, which is basically the sweet spot where locals still grab their morning coffee before the tourist crowds descend on the Croisette.
The building itself is pretty classic French Riviera – nothing too fancy from the outside, but honestly, that 9.7 rating makes perfect sense once you’re inside. The sea view rooms (and trust me, splurge for one if you can) give you this incredible perspective of the Baie de Cannes that changes completely throughout the day. Early morning, it’s all misty and peaceful with just the fishing boats heading out, then by afternoon you’ve got this whole Mediterranean spectacle happening. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you’d think being right on the port would mean constant noise, but the old stone buildings seem to buffer most of the sound from the late-night restaurant crowd.
Location-wise, you’re actually in the perfect spot to avoid the Cannes craziness while still being part of it. The Palais des Festivals is maybe a ten-minute walk along the water, but you’re tucked into this more authentic corner where you’ll find actual French people eating at the bistros instead of just international tourists. The little market streets behind the hotel – especially Rue Meynadier – are where you’ll want to grab provisions if you’re planning any picnics on the islands (the Îles de Lérins ferry is right there, by the way). Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, I’ll be honest, but the hotel staff seemed to know all the tricks, and there’s a public garage within walking distance if you’re driving. The whole Suquet district climbs up the hill behind you, which means some gorgeous evening walks up to the old church if you’re feeling energetic after a day on the beach. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because leaving feels premature – especially when you wake up to that view of the port coming alive in the morning light.
