— The hotel
Charmant Appartement à 300 mètres des plages de la Croisette
Look, I’ll be honest – the name is a mouthful, but this little apartment gem on Boulevard du Général Vautrin is exactly what you want if you’re serious about experiencing Cannes without the ridiculous hotel prices. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Croisette beaches, which sounds too good to be true until you actually do it. The Pointe Croisette area is this perfect sweet spot where you get that glamorous Riviera vibe without being right in the chaos of the main drag – you know what I mean? You can still hear the Mediterranean lapping at the shore from the apartment, but you’re not dealing with the constant parade of tourists and street performers that camp out in front of the Palais des Festivals.
What really got me about this place was how it manages to feel both local and luxurious at the same time. The apartment itself has that effortless French charm – think clean lines, plenty of natural light, and those little touches that make you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. The kitchen actually works (revolutionary concept, I know), so you can grab fresh ingredients from the morning market on Rue Meynadier and have breakfast on what passes for a balcony while watching the early joggers head toward the beach. Parking can be a bit of a dance – this is Cannes, after all – but there’s usually street parking if you’re willing to walk a block or two, and honestly, everything you need is within walking distance anyway.
The 9 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days here. It’s not trying to be the Martinez or the Carlton – it’s something better, actually. You get that authentic Côte d’Azur experience without the pretense. The beaches at Pointe Croisette are less crowded than the main Croisette stretch, the water’s just as impossibly blue, and you can walk to the old town (Le Suquet) in about fifteen minutes if you want that postcard-perfect hillside view. Plus, and this is key – you’re close enough to the festival district to feel connected to all that Cannes energy, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. During festival season, that’s worth its weight in gold. The whole area has this residential feel where you’ll see locals walking their dogs and kids playing in the small parks, which reminds you that Cannes is actually a real place where people live, not just a movie set. For the price point and location, honestly, I can’t think of why you’d want to stay anywhere else.
