Residence Meynadier – apartments – New – AC – Wifi – Close Beach and Palais – LRA Cannes
You know what really surprised me about Residence Meynadier? Walking up to this narrow building on Rue Meynadier, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – the street’s pretty bustling with tourists heading to and from the beach, and the entrance is sort of tucked between other storefronts. But once you get inside, it’s like stepping into someone’s really well-appointed city apartment, which I guess makes sense since these are actual apartments, not hotel rooms.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Cannes at all. Rue Meynadier is this pedestrian street that locals use for shopping (there’s a fantastic fromagerie about two doors down), but it’s also your direct route to the beach – I mean, you’re literally three minutes from the sand. The Palais des Festivals is maybe a five-minute walk, which was perfect during the film festival when I stayed there, though honestly the area gets pretty crazy during that time. What I loved is that the apartments have proper air conditioning that actually works – not one of those wimpy units that barely cool a closet. The wifi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to upload photos or work remotely.
Each apartment feels like someone actually lives there, not like a sterile hotel room. The kitchens are small but functional (I made coffee every morning and picked up pastries from the boulangerie around the corner), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure – always a gamble in older European buildings. The windows open onto the street, so there’s some noise during the day with people walking by, but it dies down at night, and honestly it’s part of the charm of staying right in the center of things. I stayed in a one-bedroom unit on the third floor, and while there’s no elevator, the climb wasn’t too bad. The woman who handled check-in was incredibly helpful – she gave me her number and responded quickly when I couldn’t figure out the apartment’s temperamental front door lock. That 9.3 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting apartment-style space and privacy with hotel-level service, all while being positioned perfectly to explore Cannes on foot. It’s pricier than staying outside the city center, but you’re paying for that rare combination of location, comfort, and the feeling that you’re living in Cannes rather than just visiting it.
