Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Studio Victoria 200 m Carlton Hotel & Croisette,” I thought it was trying way too hard to name-drop the famous Carlton. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that know exactly what they are, and this little studio delivers on its promise in a way that actually surprised me.

The location is pretty much perfect if you’re the type who wants to be in the thick of things without paying Carlton prices. You’re literally a two-minute walk from all that Boulevard de la Croisette glamour – I mean, you can see the palm trees from the building – but tucked away on Rond-Point Duboys d’Angers where it’s quiet enough to actually sleep. The street itself is one of those typically French residential areas where you’ll hear the occasional scooter puttering by in the morning, but nothing like the constant buzz you get right on the Croisette. I stayed here during the film festival once (don’t ask how much I paid), and even then it felt like a little sanctuary.

What really impressed me was how they’ve maximized the studio space without making it feel cramped. The kitchenette is small but functional – I actually cooked breakfast a few times, which saved me from those €15 croissant-and-coffee situations at the beachfront cafes. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and there’s decent storage space, which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase for more than a couple nights. The bathroom is compact but well-designed, with one of those rainfall showerheads that makes you forget you’re in a budget-friendly place. Honestly, the whole setup feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room.

Here’s the thing about Cannes – parking is a nightmare pretty much everywhere, so the fact that this place has sorted that out (there’s a garage situation, though you’ll want to confirm availability) is huge. You’re also perfectly positioned to walk to Marché Forville in the mornings, which is where locals actually shop and where you can grab proper French produce and cheese. The beach clubs are all within walking distance, but so is the old town up the hill, which most tourists skip but honestly has some of the best restaurants in the city.

The 9-star rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. It’s not luxury in the marble-and-champagne sense, but it’s smart and comfortable and puts you exactly where you want to be. The management clearly understands their guests – they’ve thought through the little things like good WiFi, proper lighting for getting ready (important if you’re planning to hit the casino), and blackout curtains that actually work. Perfect for couples who want the Cannes experience without the four-figure hotel bills, or solo travelers who prefer spending their money on dinner and drinks rather than thread count.

  Fully equipped, nice terrace – AC, WIFI, laiundry, full kitchen
  
  What could be improved: It is not a hotel, but a residence – also was a bit confusing to get to. This is the Victoria residences, le Victoria on Google maps.
  I had to bring soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash – was not included.
